Susan & Jason's grand day out!

Oh, my gosh!  You guys!   Yesterday, Jason and I dressed up all fancy and went to see the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra perform a John Williams showcase.  It was so awesome!  There were photo-ops in the lobby prior to showtime.  The bar was also selling a special cocktail, "The Yoda."  It was a vodka base and bright green.  "Drink it you will."

We had seats up in the terrace level, center section first row.  Powell Hall is just majestic.  It was still decorated for Christmas and was just beautiful.  The conductor was phenomenal on the mic.  They opened with the Olympic Fanfare, then did selections from JFK and Warhorse.  Also selections from ET, Jurassic Park, Raiders/Indiana Jones, and of course, Star Wars.  I got a little misty during Jurassic Park.  After the show ended, two of the strings musicians came back out...one as Vader and one as Obi-Won, both with light sabers.  And then they encored with "The Imperial March."  It was just exhilarating!  There were NERDS (us included) everywhere!

Here are some photos:

^^ This was the first photo we took.  We asked the man in line behind us to please take our photo.  "It's very important to get the Ewok in the frame.  No pressure or anything."  HA!  Good job, guy!

^^Second photo was with Darth Maul.  Jason is crotch-chopping all our nerd friends who we assumed would be infinitely jealous of our grand afternoon.  And I'm throwing it in their faces!  HA!

^^Third photo!  "Stick 'em up!"

Prior to going to Powell, we went to Everest Cafe and overdosed on friend zucchini.  Jason had to tap out, and I finished the last two!  Then we stopped at The Handlebar for a round/pre-bar.  After, Jason wanted a steak since he was so dressed up.  I was (understandably) at a loss for suggestions, but I remember that Lew and Kristen went some steakhouse/whisky bar earlier that weekend, so I texted them for the info.  We headed to the CWE and ate at the Gamlin House.  Jason ate a $35 16oz cut, which he said was one of the best he had ever tasted.  He felt the price was justified, plus, it was a special occasion.  I ordered a $17 bowl of vegetable stew.  Not joking.  It was a very delicious stew, but vegetable soup should not be $17.  Like I said, it was a special occasion. :)
