Was in Tampa and Gainesville last week/end for Fest 9. Totally awesome as usual!
I left work early on Thursday and bro drove me to the airport. I was flying into Tampa and Nate picked me up and we drove to TAAACOBUS! totally got down on delicious veg burritos then headed to the pre-show at the skate park.
There was a shit ton of people/bands hanging out. I saw Chinese Telephones, Soviettes, Nightbirds, Big Eyes, Toys that Kills, Dopamines, Slow Death, Arrivals that I remember. I had like eight beers, hung out/caught up with a lot of out of town and east coast friends. Nightbirds totally killed it, so did Big Eyes. The Dopamines were insane. Toys that Kill are always a favorite. Was a little hoarse from all the sing alongs.
Stayed at my sis's condo on Thursday night and Nate came to pick me up on Friday morning and we drove to Gainseville, but not before he checked the message board about finding some roommates for us. We ended up meeting up with three really nice young Canadians, so that helped out with the cost.
Once in Gainesville, we went to registration and it didn't take long, maybe 45 minutes. The air temp was warm and the sun was shining. There was so much energy from everyone buzzing around and being excited. The hotel was selling beers; i didn't drink one. We stood in line and socialized with this majorly manly handsome dude named Peter, who was from Miami.
We went to burrito brothers; it was alright. Not my fav, but cheap as fuck and still tasty.
The kickoff show was Nightbirds at the Atlantic. There was a long line out front, and I made it into the venue for the last half of their set; I'm glad I got to see them the day before in Tampa b/c dudes slay. Soviettes were next. Honestly, I just don't care. They have, like, 2 solid jams, and were majorly out of practice. The two chicks on guitars are major babes, though, and the Erg was on the kit again, and Annie said it best when she said that Mike was the one that knew the songs the best, and he's not even in the band!
Too Many Daves was next and holy shit that was a straight up party in there! Tight as fuck, shirts off dudes on, people rocking out all in the venue. Rushing the stage when they played I'm with Stupid. Great set, great showmanship. Future Virgins was next. That was also a solid set once the technical difficulties delaying the start were resolved.
I decided to go to another venue to see some bands that I have not seen before. I went to Common Ground and was able to get right in, although sans water bottle. Static Radio NJ were playing, and I must admit that this was the best I have seen them perform. Years ago I saw them in Jersey and Philly as openers and I was not too impressed. Those times, there was one guitar and then the singer did not play. Now the singer plays second guitar and it just sounds fuller and better. The crowd was way into it, too. The next band was heartsounds and it was not my taste at all and that is all i have to saw about that.
I stayed for Blacklist Royals, who were like Social D with a injection of adrenaline. I very much liked it and people were into their set and singing along and dancing.
I was pretty exhausted and had a massive migraine so I went to 5 star and got a slice of veg pizza and went back to the hotel.
On Saturday I started the day off at 1982. I didn't know what to expect of lines and I didn't want to miss anyone, so I was there early. Whipfler was in the back with Dopamines and Trangressions and Joe from banner pilot. Hung out and talked for a bit before heading inside. Unfun was first and they were excellent. Loud, fast, obnoxious. The bass player was the tall lanky dude with a gross rat tail, and at one point in the set had a huge green snot rocket hanging out of his nose. He bobbed his head a bit to get it swinging, sucked it into his mouth, and swallowed. It was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I'm still horrified of the memory of it as I am typing it out here right now.
After Unfun was big eyes, who I wanted to see. They were playing the same time as dear landlord, who I had made the decision to not see b/c i see them perform all the time and also I know they don't practice much and I wasn't sure if they would even be tight. I let Whipfler talk me in to going to see Dear Landlord. The line was down the street and around the corner and the venue didn't open up on time and we didn't get in. I heard my favorite songs from out of the street. Bogus. I decided to head to rum runner's to continue on with my schedule to see Arms Aloft.
I got to rum runner's and caught the last half of grown ups. Shit was crazy. The venue was packed and fists were pumping, lots of surfing, getting too close to a ceiling fan. A lot of people cleared out after their set, which sucked b/c Arms Aloft are great. The acoustics in the bar were not good. There were huge glass windows and it was really boomy in there. If i wasn't familiar with the material I would have enjoyed the set at all.
I was kinda pissed/frustrated at this point in the day, mostly because I had not eaten anything and Nate was annoying the shit out of me. I decided to try the reggae shack and I am glad I did. It was delicious. The tempeh in Gainesville is just different than any tempeh I've had anywhere else, and for the better. I got a spicy jerk tempeh sandwich and veg dutty fries, that the girl told me were fried in a dedicated fryer. Delicious. I'm not sure what the spices were on there, but I want to eat it again.
I got my sandwich to go and sat out on the curb by the venue and had a little down/quiet time.
Went to the venue and caught Teenage Softies in the side room before going into the main room to see Banner Pilot, which this was probably their best set I've seen. I actually find them a little boring, especially on the CD, except for that first one, pass the poison. They were on the main stage, I stayed up on the stairs a few platforms back. I saw Nate get nailed right in the face with a foot.
I went to the side room to see Rumspringer next. Their set was not tight at all, but still a lot of fun. I saw Amy and Melanie from Chicago with some other people and had a good time jamming out and singing along. Those songs are way catchy.
Went back to the main room and say Flatliners. That band is great, too. So energetic on stage and they command their instruments so well. Lots of activity on the floor, arms ups, feet up, singing along to all the songs.
The next band up in the main room was TBR, who i admit is a total guilty pleasure of mine. I have not had a chance to see them perform the songs from the new record, so I was excited to see them. I was down on the floor near the front and the pit was pretty brutal. Just two people acting like fucking idiots. They played songs from the new record, a few from warning device, and total, a lillington's cover, and a bad religion cover. It was a fun time, although I feel a lot of people down on the floor didn't know the older songs, which is too bad b/c total is a great record. Probably one of my favorite. 2005 oh shit, pop punk is BACK!
I headed to 1982 to finish out the night. There was a long line, but I got in in time for Captain we're sinking. The place was going nuts. A large crowd up in the front singing along to all the songs, lots of surfing and dancing. The ceiling is a little low, and people up on arms were holding up their feet so they wouldn't get smashed. Lots of fun, definitely want to check out more of their stuff.
After that band, I was waiting in line for the bathroom and I saw Brian Kangas, randomly. He has lived in Gainesville for the past 6 years and is a professor at the school and also is involved in drug research. We talked while Vacation Bible School was setting up. He told me that Pat Rush, who has been out is SF since graduating Carbondale with us back in 03, is working for Fat Wreck and Pat was in town for the fest and the two of them had been at the venue all day for the fat showcase. Ian and the people from Chicago were there, too, but the venue was kind of a little bit empty when VBS played, although their set sounded great.
Dude Jams were next, and I was very excited to see them. Second guitar broke a string three chords in to the first song. Their set was alright. Kind of like dear landlord, they just don't practice/only get together when they are all in town for a fest or whatever.
After that the venue started to fill up and a band from Japan, Worthwhile Wait played next. HOLY SHIT that was the most bad ass thing i have seen. Two little Japanese girls on vox/guitar and bass and two little japanese dudes on lead guitar and drums. They totally threw down and people were going freaking nuts, dancing, yelling, clapping, screaming for more! The band didn't 'speak Engrish for you very good for you', and were incredibly formal in their banter, but it was so novelty and perfect. They made signs for the song names in spiral notebooks, with crayons and pictures. They would hold the signs up and try to explain the song. People in the crown were fucking loving it! The lead guitar player came on the mic and said 'oh, i so very nervous for you!' like i said, it was so novelty and perfect and badass.
When their set was over, the crowd was yelling for more and the band ended up encoring. Possibly the most excited, energetic set I saw all weekend!
Slow Death was next. I like them, I like Jesse's songs. Good times. Nighthawk was dang near passed out on a couch in the back of the venue.
I had a pretty major headache again and went to 5 star to get pizza. I met a very nice boy from NC in line. His name was Derek and we sat on the ground together and ate our pizza and had nice conversation. Roy had texted me that he wanted at Planes Mistaken for Stars shirt, so I went over to 8 seconds to buy him one, but they didn't have any merch. like none. just some posters from the Chicago show two weeks ago sitting on a table by themselves, not even for sale.
Nate was still annoying the shit out of me b/c he's Nate, and we waited til Planes was done then split a cab with two other people back to the hotel.
On Sunday I woke up and Nate was annoying the shit out of me. He wanted me to help him with his costume, but I didn't want to so I went up to the hotel lobby and waiting for the shuttle for an hour and 20 minutes and just spent some time by myself, which was soooo nice.
The girl took me into town. I was really hungry, but Dopamines were up first at 8 seconds, and after the BS there with Dear Landlord on Saturday, I didn't want to risk not getting in, so I walked by there 80 minutes early and no one was in line. I decided to go to the no idea bbq and get some food. Last year they had delicious bbq tempeh like I haven't had anywhere else but in gainesville, but this year they had boca burgers, which is majorly disappointing. I got a huge plate of black beans and rice for $2 and headed back to wait in line for dopamines. There was a line starting to form now, and I took my place. Was glad I would make it in, with time to spare, too.
It was kind of weird seeing them play at like 1pm on a Sunday. They seemed already drunk or something. But the set did not disappoint. The crowd went nuts. I was on the floor near the front, on the back edge of the pit, singing along and dancing to all the songs, got soaked with beer. Their new record is easily my fav this year and I love seeing them perform.
O pioneers were next, then Shook Ones (west coast lifetime, yes, please!!) Waaay into shook ones. Crowd up front was going crazy. There was a dude dressed up in a squid costume and he was crowd surfing, tentacles flailing upward. It was quite a sight!
After shook ones I left to go to the venue to see copyrights. Their set sounded great. The songs were played flawlessly, and I was on the floor. Nate came over to me and told me to watch out for stage divers. Thanks, I'm on the floor, I'm aware. It's like going to the pool and getting pissed if you get wet. Derek was there, and we stood next to each other during the set. The Copyrights were sweet, the crowd a little on the boring side. I'm just spoiled from all their amazing sets at Chicago venues where people are more...animated.
I headed to Common Ground because I wanted to see Monikers and New Bruises. Whipfler was there with some cute boys from Boston. I was talked into having my first alcohol of the weekend, and it was FEST PUNCH. aka jungle juice. It was good...too good. I sucked it down and Steve (cute bostonian) bought the next round. I was wise enough to only have the two. Nearly empty stomach and the everclear still kicked my ass. I was felling all warm and buzzed.
I went back to 8 seconds, and I met a boy named Sam, who was from MPLS and on tour and playing fest with Nato Coles and the Blue Diamond Band. Sam is a very cute (and he knows that girls think so) beardo with gorgeous blue eyes like oceans and dark scruffy hair. He said he had seen me the previous day at the venue, rocking the fuck out to Rumspringer. I admit I was very flattered by this. We ended up hanging out the rest of the day.
Arrivals were up and they were totally solid, perhaps one of the best sets I have seen them perform. People were still shouting "whoa oh" like an hour after they were done. I'm glad this happened on Sunday b/c it easily could have been the running catch phrase the whole weekend.
Underground Railroad to Candyland was up next, and it was a straight dance party in there! I really like Todd C's stuff, and he always delivers. He was dressed up in some kind of huge beehive bride of frankenstein wig and green dress. Jon Lewis was on the mic making birds calls and hopping around the stage dressed up in a batman mask. Lil' dave was dressed like some kind of cave man. No dives, no surfing, no pit, like I said, total jams and a straight up dance party.
I switched over to beer at 8 second, pbr tall cans for $2 (i think, although it might have been $3). I was kind of starting to black out a little bit and don't remember much of the last three sets, which was twelve hour turn, chris wollard and the ship theives, and frank turner.
When the last band was done, Sam and I went to a liquor store to get our own beers and we heard about a house party and set off to find it. We didn't find it, but did end up peeing in someone's back yard.
The hotel was about 4 miles away, and thank god we saw Whipfler and the Dopamines van. They were staying at the same hotel as us, and we asked for a ride. They had a full load and said to meet them at holiday inn where they were dropping some people off. So we did then we could get in and ride back. I sat in the middle between same and mike and dave was in the passanger seat and weiner was driving.
Back at the hotel we could legit not navigate back to our hotel room and ended up at the pool. The water was freezing! I actually got in all the way and it knocked my breath right out of me. I sat on the side in my underwear and a hoodie, Sam next me in his underwear and a t-shirt. We had our beers, he smoked cigarettes. There were stars in the sky, beautiful spanish moss hanging from the trees, our smelly feet dangling into the icy water. We were joined by about fifteen other hotel guests, all festers, just hanging out and sitting around by the pool. A few dudes attempted to rig a diving board out of a trashcan, but i think the water was too cold for them, too!
We went back to the room, the back patio door was open and Nate was sleeping in my bed! This pissed me off. My bed was by the air conditioner, which was on. Earlier in the evening, Nate said that he had turned the AC on that morning and forgot to shut it off and the room was cold. He asked me if I wanted him to sleep in my bed by the cold AC and I could sleep in his bed b/c it was warmer and farther away from the AC unit. I said no i didn't mind if it was cold, actually prefer it, and that I could sleep in my own bed. Regardless, he still got into my bed! Then why even ask me??!! I was annoyed the whole freaking weekend.
Whatever, me and my cute new friend got into Nate's bed then and made out for a while. He beard is soft, not what i was expecting at all. Okay, Nate does not sleep. At all. He only sleeps for short periods of time, and even then not soundly. So of course he heard us kissing, and rustling around between the sheets. He ended up leaving, which is fine. He has gotten with girls on group roadtrips and had it coming.
With the room to ourselves, Sam and I ended up banging out pretty hard, two full sessions, and I ended up soaking the mattress. He was way into, which kind of surprised me because earlier in the night, just in conversation, he told a story about a friend who was into squirters and had gotten into some shenanigans with a chick on a tour, and he let drop that he wasn't really into it. I think maybe he just never really had it done properly or full out or whatever. Or we were just too drunk. Probably a little bit of both.
With Nate's bed now soaked and my bed completely empty, we got into my bed and curled up close under the sheets, the cool AC keeping the room nice and comfortable. It was so satisfying having our warm bodies close to each other. His chest is hairy and strong, but he is still slight build. I like it. An hour or so later we heard Nate come in the patio door and get into his bed. Sam and I were both quiet and didn't make a move like we were awake, and Nate got into his bed. I didn't ask, but i wonder if it was still wet. My guess is yes.
We had to leave gainesville at like 730am b/c nate had to work at 10am. Sam and I walked hand in hand to the car then up to the desk to check out. We gave him a ride to his hotel, which was halfway between our hotel and fest ground zero. We exchanged info and he gave me a kiss before departing.
We have spoken on the phone and texted back and forth a lot. I am going to MPLS to visit next weekend on my four day weekend. I'm looking forward to it, although not getting my expectations up for any long distance situtaion. Plus, like I said, Sam is good looking, and he know girls think this. Worst case scenario is that we end up fucking each other's brains out for four days and nights. I've no complaints about that whatsoever.

I have been on quite a roll. One of the girls at work has been on vacation all week, so we have been down one. This has been an opportunity for me to really step it up, and i have. I have been taking great xrays, three patients this week told me I was very polite and did an excellent job during their appointment. The Dr. let me place the graft material today. This was the second time he has let me do that.
Hold Tight! has been on major rotation this week. Total jams.
I have been doing really well in school and enjoying class.
Everyone at work has been very nice and supportive.
I bought a butternut squash tonight for 99cents. I have no idea of the proper was to prepare it.
Fest is in like two weeks! Dopamines are here next weekend. Totally psyshed.
Wheel of fortune is hosting try outs for the show in stl this weekend. I'm going! I would like to win a trip! or cash money.
Roy bought me an OWTH hoodie at the show last weekend and mailed it to me. I made him a cd that i enclosed with the check i mailed.
I checked the spring semester class schedule. I could possibly be done with the pre reqs to go to school in florida. Perpetual spring break!!
Last night i went to the city park with mom, dad, and wienus dog. Weather has been gorgeous. I've also been riding a lot. Went to Fountain last weekend. There was two house, and old wooden railroad tressle, and a bar with about 100 motorcycles parked out front.
Going good. I hope this keeps up!

I'm not right, but I'm not wrong
Lonely again today. My sister came into town for a surprise visit. I went to pick her up at the airport on Thursday after work and we went out to get food with our dad and some friends from the neighborhood growing up. Karaoke was also going on, and i wa speechless at seeing all the hossiers in town, wasted on 5 dollar margarita pitchers, dancing in conga lines around the restaurant while their comrades crooned out of tune.
Last night we bbq'd at the house and had the same people over. It was really nice, and I'm glad that we stayed home. It's just way less hassle, and plus, I prefer to cook at home. I know my dad does, too. And mom, i guess. Plus with my vegan diet and my mom not eating gluten, it's just easier to make our own food at home. Mom surprised me with a little sixer of pumpkin beer from the store. I drank three of them last night, and will take the other three to a house party I'm going to later on tonight.
Iron Chic is playing at Cranky Yellow tonight. I'm looking forward to it. Their sound is a little somber. I'm having a hard time today. I went out and rode for two hours this morning; conditions were gorgeous. Mom and dad are at work, and my sister is out doing stuff, so I've been home all day. I don't usually mind. I did my chemistry homework and played the piano.
I'm not lonely, but I am. I don't understand why I am so undateable. I feel utterly alone, even when I hang out with other people. It's like I don't belong. I've been thinking very terrible thoughts that I am ashamed of. I want to get text under my pretty pink flowers. I have been torn between three different ideas, but "Hard to Admit" is the winner. It's hard to admit that I feel utterly alone, even when I'm around so many people. It's hard to admit that I feel guilty about these feelings of hopelessness b/c I do have a supportive family, comfortable living situation, a job that I like, I am able to go to school and learn about subjects that interest me. It's hard to admit that there is some one who i foolishly still think about all the time. It's hard to admit that the ONLY thing that brings me joy is riding my bicycle.
I still stand by the decision to move back to stl as the right one to make. I'm just in a rut, but as time goes by, I feel more and more like I'm just not going to get out of it, no matter how much I want to.

Unofficial end to summer aka winter in my heart
I'm feeling pretty lonely today. I took the day off running/riding b/c my nasal allergies are rampant, conditions outside are kind of way windy. I did go to the swimming pool for thirty minutes earlier. the water was freezing, so i just basked.
I need to relax and live in right now. I'm getting ahead of myself and need to just calm down. My mind is racing with "what ifs" and playing out all different scenerios in my head and I am feeling unnecessarily anxious and making myself nuts for no reason.
On Saturday night I went over to my aunt and uncles house, where my cousins and their spouses and toddler were also visiting. We BBQ'd and had good conversation. I abstained from alcohol b/c I was feeling out of sorts before we even got there. I very much enjoy my extended family, but sometimes I feel really inadequate after we've all been hanging out a while, and they are all telling stories and cutting jokes and I feel...like I don't measure up or something. Maybe they are just really that good at retelling stories, or maybe they are optimistic/happy, and look for the light in situations, that they seem to have the crazies/funniest stories and experiences and I just listen and don't contribute or they make me feel weird if they ask me a question or for input.
Unofficial end to summer aka winter in my heart.
I'm considering getting some lettering on my left arm, tucked up under the flowers. I'm debating between, "I just want you to know" "Hard to Admit" or "Beautiful, Protected, Special, Stupid"

Y'all like to climb!?
On Thursday after work, I went out on the bike alone. My dad had to go to a city council meeting, and sunset is now just at 730pm, so there's not too much time to waste after coming home from work. There was a lot of storm clouds on the radar, so I stayed close to town. Went down Valmeyer Road and hung a right on Bluff Road. Usually I would have turned left onto Ramsey and gone out to the levee, but like I said, there were storm on the horizon, so I stayed close to town. I went straight past the Red Roof gas station and underneath Route 3 and back to Rueck Road. Took that all the way through the neighborhoods there and ended up on Main Street. A fair number of people out. Wind was picking up. I pedaled home along Main and took a left past Parkview and the high school, crossed 3 at the stoplight and was home. Out a total of 45 minutes.
When I moved back here, I spent a lot of time organizing the basement. My bro and his friends had been living down there for over a year and the space was just wrecked. I cleaned up a lot, but it's not finished yet. Mostly I waiting for large trash day b/c there is some disgusting furniture pieces that need to get thrown out! But I did clear a little area and set up the heavy bag, weight bar, some dumb bells, and a mat, and even propped up the wall mirror that had previously been in the upstairs bathroom before the remodel. I also found a timer that I can set up for 2 or 3 minute rounds with breaks so I can do a circuit.
So after the ride I went down to the basement and lifted some and stretched out thoroughly.
Yesterday was Friday, and I was off of work! It was a very productive day for me. In the AM at least. Woke up at 620 and COULD NOT get back to sleep. So I settled all my banking account stuff, paid some bills online, changed my address with the post office, and then I went out on the bike for 2 hours and 20 minutes. All I have to say about the ride is, "Y'all like to climb!?" b/c this was all hills. I didn't mind, though, b/c then I got to ZOOOOOOM down the other side. The route was also very isolated, and I encountered very few cars. At one point, a little over 90 minutes in, I though I was lost. I had a phone on me, but I was so remote there was no bars and even I did call some one, it would have been difficult to describe to them where I was.
No worry, though, b/c I figured it out and made it home with no problems. The day was gorgeous, even a little chilly. Very windy, but nice blue sky with fair-weather cumulus clouds. I took a lot of pictures and made a google MyMaps of the route.
There's a lot more posted on my photobucket, which is found here:

I passed out last night at 9pm and still have some nasal allergy hassles even though I use the neti pot and have been taking an allergy pill for over two weeks.
My hamstrings are really tight today and I'm going to BBQ with my mom and dad tonight so we're going to prep some stuff up this afternoon. I'm so happy to be back home!! :)

Done by noon
Saturday morning. Air temp 55F. Wind < 10mph. Rode 35 miles. Created a map for the route on google mymaps. Had a hard time with the double-back for the loop, so the mileage is incorrect, but the route is correct. The morning was gorgeous. I saw a lot of wading birds, encountered few cars, one dog, several riders and two joggers. Had some fun with the camera on the way back home.
Then I rented my textbooks on chegg and saved $292.44 and planted a tree in Lake Tahoe.
I went to the pool with my mom for an hour. The water was surprisingly chilly, but I still waded in. My mom is kind of a babe. (AKA too bad I look like my dad! haha!) (j/k)

Was (obviously) pretty worn out by Saturday night. Still managed to leave the house and go to a house party in South City. Locals + one touring band from Madison. Totally sweet. Loud, fast pop punk. I played the wii for the first time and bought a 7" before I left.
Had a fun time at the party with friends and was glad that i went.
Slept late today and relaxed around the house as air temp is currently 90F and there is a fierce wind. I did some more research for the wind turbine. I have decided on the VAWT. I would like to construct this using recycled materials, namely an old bicycle wheel. I have some more research to do as far as what exact model of magnet motor I want to use, although I'm not adverse to making my own out of magnets and copper coil. Need to consult an electrician about the set up to the grid once I have the charge running and stored into the batteries.

It's not the heat...
I've been back in Stl for almost two weeks.
I forgot how humid the summer gets. Its oppressive. I have gone out on the bikes with my dad only once. I know we'll go out more in another month when things cool off some.
the new job is totally badass. i love it. It's messy as hell, the surgeon is a very talented doctor, the co-workers are all very nice, friendly people. the commute is nothing.
On friday night, i went to a house party/basement show. doppleganger, wompers, squidblade. (who are the best band in stl right now in my opinion). the basement space was great for shows. usually suspects in attendance, and i felt like everything just picked up right where i left off. good times! kind of weird, though, getting used to driving home. i could only drink two beers b/c i had to drive home after. need to get used to that, being responsible and all.
on saturday night, nate had a graduation party at his house. it was a pretty low key event. his family is really nice. when chris was off work, he drove over to the house and we had a few beers then drove to the silver ballroom. totally sweet new (to me at least) bar on morganford that had like ten pinball machines. we played mars attacks, dr. dude, and pin bot. ran into krissy and nighthawk (not together) there. totally got was intoxicated and slept in nate's sister's room in teh basement. chris' car blew a tire and he ended up staying upstairs in nate's bed and nate slept on the couch. all in all, a good night.
on sunday, went to lemmon's for a show. goddamm i freaking hate going to that place b/c the bartenders are the absolute worst! blows my mind. bands were ALL amazing. lipstick homicide (totally adorable and rocked the fuck out), hold tight! (lifetime jr, yes please!), deth warrent (crazy seeing uncle benny, i mean mr. dr. s furkin-eads, kevin, jimmy nick, and ben's bro again so soon. but they totally threw down. i have a MAJOR crush on ben's brother's hair), and squidblad closed out the show. again, they are the best band in stl right now in my opinion. too bad nate is moving.
been hanging out at my parents' house all week after work. mom and i went to the swimming pool and just floated around on monday afternoon.
nice to spend time with weinus dog. i have missed him so much!
so far so good, in the stl. could use more diaz. i admit, i have a crush.

Last Saturday in Chicago (for now)
Went to Warped Tour today. Wow. haven't been to one of those since 2001. Was not really into that many of the bands. I just don't get this new crossover metal bullshit i guess. The best band of the day, in my opinion, was face to face. give me loud, fast, old school socal punk anyday, please.
We lucked out on the weather. overcast and not too hot or humid. Rode there with Beth, Phil, Roy, and Christina. Met up with Mogan, Kevin, Michelle, and Lauren, who was in charge of the guest list and got us in for free, with "all access" passes. "no escort needed" so we could go wherever we wanted.
For lunch we back where the buses were and there was a huge catering semi. it was 12 for a meal ticket, but worth it in my opinion. I got soooo much food. they had excellent veg options, including deilicous bread for a sandwich, veg bbq chickun nuggets, fruit salad, sodas/drinks. a caggabe and corn slaw that is one of the most flavorful sides i have ever tasted. need to look for a recipe for that.
Went to lauren's bus and chilled. it was pretty decked out. fridge full of beer and a flatscreen television.
Bands we saw included set your goals (good stuff), dillinger escape plan (total dream boat on second guitar), a.w.k. (don't stop partying, too many people are counting on you!), the trio (i don't care/never did/never will), face to face (see above). here's some sweet pics. also, phil is a totally dream boat. would totally go on a date with him. totally exhausted. slept in the car the whole ride back from tinley.

Last Friday in Chicago (for now)
"I walked out that door, and I never looked back."
I didn't cry. I felt relief. I called my mom from the platform, waiting on the last train home.

Last Thursday in Chicago (for now)
Today I rode the train to work, and before lunch, I went over to Dr. Warga's office to say goodbye.
Was there maybe 15 minutes. Gave Sue a hug, Jeanne another hug goodbye. Met the new associate, did not even make eye contact with jorga. fuck that trainwreck. Said goodbye and gave george a hug. i actually started to cry and thanked him for the opportunity to work for him, for teaching me, for helping me with letters, etc for school. I want so badly for my dreams to come to fruition, and he have me encouragement that they would.
I will miss this.

Last Wednesday in Chicago (for now)
Wednesday.
Wednesday.
A weird day of the week. Sometimes referred to as Hump Day.
Wednesday is my day off. I like having Wednesdays off b/c I only have to get through work on mon and tues. then sleep in and do whatever on wed, then just get through thurs and fri. It's kind of a sweet deal but also kind of sucks b/c everyone I know works during the day during the week and it can get kinda lonely sometimes.
Today Matt Clark and I went to Six Flags. I had never been to the one here. It was pretty sweet. Same kind of rides/games as the one in STL, including the Hurrican Harbor water park, except of course, for different roller coasters.
We got there about 4pm. Not too crowded, waited about 20 min for most rides, i'd guess. and excellent temps. not too hot/not too humid.
the first thing we went on was a coaster called the Wizard. It was pretty sweet actually. We were up in the second car from the front. There were no loops, but it went fast and had sharp banks and was still exciting. good warm up.
Then we rode the raging bull, which i understand to be the premiere roller coaster there. the cars seat four across, and the seats have a lap bar that looks like the riders are on those little rascal scooters. no loops on this one, either, but its FAST!! and there is a MAJOR drop. something like 208ft. drop on the first hill. hands up! eyes closed! lungs screaming!!
Then we went to the Hurrican Harbor to get some water slide action before that part of the park closed. The lazy river ride, which is my fav, was closed, which was a dang shame. All those lonely yellow tubes, floating around the loop without any bathers...criminal, i tell ya!
but we went on some FAST water slides. it was actually kind of scary in the watertubes b/c it was so dark in there, i couldn't see anything, i was just zipping and zigging and zagging. We went twice down the bowl slides, that empty out into a bowl and we circled the drain so to speak before sliding down the last part of the slide. The water park was a lot of fun.
The Hurrican Harbor closed at 7pm, but the rest of the park was open til 10pm. We hit up the batman coaster, which is the same as the batman in stl. its sooooo smooth, and and nighttime its so dark and the corkscrews are so fast and tight. its really scary.
Rode a coaster called the demon. it was okay. lots of loops and corkscrews, and one part with a tunnel and lights that was a huge surprise, but the ride was jerky and kinda hurt my head banging around on the body bar.
Also rode the Superman, which that ride was totally bad ass. I have never ridden a ride like that before. After we were all in our seats, the backs pulled up and we were parallel with the ground, like we were flying. it was terrifying! there was one loop in particular, when we were upside down, going around, and i could see the track ahead of us. There was a great pic that camera caught of me, mouth open screaming, eyes terrified, arms up.
the V2, which i think stood for vertical velocity was kinda cool. just one track, with one train, going forward and backward, each time getting higher and higher. it was pretty good.
the american eagle, which is similiar to the screamin' eagle, was an old wooden white roller coaster. really rickety and jerky. no loops, but that element of danger, like the train was going to fly off the tracks at nearly every hill. an of course a great first drop.
some other coaster we rode, don't remember the name, but we had to stand up on it.
then we rode the raging bull again. we got onto the last train of the night. first car. it was totally bad ass. again, epic first drop. fast curves and high hills. adrenaline was pumping. hands up, lungs screaming! eyes wide open in terror!
waiting in line for the last raging bull train of the night, with american eagle wooden white structure in the background:
saw these rasta bananas as prizes on the way out:
i kind of had a huge headahce. i made an conscious effort to drink water throughout our time there, so i don't think it was from dehydration. probably from hunger and/or so much screaming/g-forces/blood rushing loops.
on the way home, we drove around looking fora dang taco bell, finally got to one in glenview. geez, i could not get those burritos in my mouth fast enough! haha!
dropped matt off at his house, hug goodnight. great time today! totally exhausted. i will sleep well tonight! :)

Last Tuesday in Chicago (for now)
Met up with Jeanne after work. We went to Pita Inn in Niles and ate delicious Middle Eastern food, had good conversation and caught up with each other.
Afterwards, we went to run some errands and went to Target and bought some bras. Something about hanging out with Jeanne is always so comforting. I have really missed my mom, even just going to the store with her and talking to each other as we walked from aisle to aisle. Identify that comfort just hanging out with Jeanne.
She took me to the Harlem stop and I rode the blue line home. For the Last Time!

Last Monday in Chicago (for now)
Met up with Johnny after work for sweet hangout at Grant Park, Millenium Park, and pedaling along LaSalle and then Milwaukee.
I swung by Life On Mars and got us a sliced seitan sandwich, mac n cheese, bbq baked black eyes peas, and the coconut greens. We had a little picnic in the park, sitting on a bench amongst the flowers. Gorgeous blue sky, beautiful surroundings, good food with good company, and ideal weather conditions. I had been to this park previously, but not since winter, when I went ice skating, but didn't go to see any of the other cool things to see. This city is gorgeous, and enjoying a perfect day with friends makes me not want to leave this place.
Arch at the Art Institute:
Gorgeous Flowers in Grant Park:
Sweet bridge near sundown:
More vegetation at the Arboretum:
Only took me 3 1/2 years to finally go to The Bean:
Some Chinese sculptures:
Fountains with Faces:
Riding along LaSalle then to Milwaukee home:
After I got back home, I was tired, but went to Delilah's for Punk Rock Monday, which Roy and I had gone to so many times this spring/summer. Although tonight Roy was not there; he was working.
I did meet up with cutie pie that i met a few weeks back. Turns out, roy took this pic of us out on the street, makes me smile:
And Danny! came out as well. It was great to see him before I left. I met Danny at a basement show back in the summer or 2008, and we never hung out or saw each other until this past June. He's a fun, funny guy. I'd like to come back up to chi in sept when he throws his bitchin' bday party at bob inn over labor day weekend.

Last Sunday in Chicago (for now)
Last Sunday in Chicago. day was gorgeous. i stayed in the house until about 3pm. met up at roy's house for porch beers. absolutely beautiful sitting on the porch. blue sky. cold beer. cool breeze. shade tree.
went to see despicable me. movie was hilarious. not a lot of people in the theater.
then i met up with johnny and we rode bikes to see the dragonlady, but the kitchen was closed. life on mars was closed as well. had luck at the handlebar, which i was glad b/c the portions there are huge and i have enough left over to take for lunch tomorrow. also, i had been craving lettuce/greens, and was able to choose the collard greens for the side. the bbq seitan is delicious. its so tender, and i really like the sauce. and we could order beers there.
then we came back to my house and hung out for bit and watched some hulu and drank beers.
i'm dreading going to work tomorrow; i know i am making the right choice in leaving.

Sorry it didn't work out
I went to a house party at the new gator loft last night. Shit was hot as ballzZz in there. Bands were totally solid. (most likely the last) Death Warrent (show), Shithawk, some band from buffalo, and wild america. Not a lot of people at all.
Had rained eariler in the evening but was stopped and looking clear on the radar, so Johnny and I pedaled over there. Straight hood. Double locked our bikes up outside. I had a nice time. Drank seven beers there and didn't even feel buzzed b/c of the heat. Just sweating it out. again, something so primal about that. everyone was slick with it.
After the show, lots of rain coming down. saw Giuseppe, he had left but came back to the party to change a tube. I had his socks in my bag and gave them to him and told him I was moving and gave him a huge hug and i didn't want to let go. I started to get upset and left. Johnny was out on the street waiting for me to unlock the bikes.
pouring rain. but i was smiling. we got to an overpass on i think north ave. maybe armitage. couldn't see too well. the street was flooded. i plowed right into the water. my bike came to a near halt, the water easily a foot and a half deep. i started to laugh. i looked back and saw johhny, backlit from the headlights of a car that was not going to pass, bike slung over his shoulder, wading knee deep in foul backwater.
got to my street and got off our bikes. i started to cry. we embraced for a good 30 seconds. he texted me later saying that we should hang out everyday until i leave.
i debate all the time whether my decision to return to stl is the correct one to make. this summer has been great. easily top three. i saw nick sherman at party last night and i even mentioned that to him. summer 2010, summer 2006, and summer 2001, which i spent in c'dale.
but once school starts back up and work slows down and the sun starts to disappear at 4pm, i know i'll get depressed again. when i moved up here, i was afraid of missing friends in stl. but i made friends up here. i was afraid of missing my cute house. but i found a place to live up here that i loved just as much.
i can always come back, and i would like to. i know i will. the same friends will be here. when i get back to stl, i will find the same friends waiting for me, and i will find a new house to love just as much.
i was kind of hungover today. mostly b/c of the dehydration from the sweatbox that was the gator loft last night. haven't eaten much. woke up with severe leg/calf cramps.
clouds cleared this afternoon and i went to north ave beach to meet up with a very cute (seriously cute. dude is like 21 and totally just....cute!) boy that i met at the delilah's on monday. we were there for three hours. sun in and out of the clouds, but conversation was good. we got a spot north of north ave and there wasn't a lot of people around. no swimming allowed today. bogus. good hangout. good saturday afternoon. we'll see what saturday night holds.

i debate all the time whether my decision to return to stl is the correct one to make. this summer has been great. easily top three. i saw nick sherman at party last night and i even mentioned that to him. summer 2010, summer 2006, and summer 2001, which i spent in c'dale.
but once school starts back up and work slows down and the sun starts to disappear at 4pm, i know i'll get depressed again. when i moved up here, i was afraid of missing friends in stl. but i made friends up here. i was afraid of missing my cute house. but i found a place to live up here that i loved just as much.
i can always come back, and i would like to. i know i will. the same friends will be here. when i get back to stl, i will find the same friends waiting for me, and i will find a new house to love just as much.
i was kind of hungover today. mostly b/c of the dehydration from the sweatbox that was the gator loft last night. haven't eaten much. woke up with severe leg/calf cramps.
clouds cleared this afternoon and i went to north ave beach to meet up with a very cute (seriously cute. dude is like 21 and totally just....cute!) boy that i met at the delilah's on monday. we were there for three hours. sun in and out of the clouds, but conversation was good. we got a spot north of north ave and there wasn't a lot of people around. no swimming allowed today. bogus. good hangout. good saturday afternoon. we'll see what saturday night holds.

The cutest boys in Chicago reside in Logan Square
Gave my last shift away yesterday, so I'm off work today. Too bad its raining. Actually just got caught in the rain riding home. And it was so....INVIGORATING!! Riding a bicycle is exhilarating enough without wind whipping warm but at the same time cool hard rain right into you, eyes stinging, clothes clinging. Something about it. Raw. Primal.
Rode up to the LS farmers' market with the intention of buying carrots to put in a soup and also my favorite curry potato dish to take to work for lunch this week. The carrots were sold out, but I did get a leek, which potato leek soup is one of my favs, and I've no prob making that instead.
There was people everywhere. I was a little pissed off. Maybe I just felt left out seeing so many people out enjoying their lazy Sunday, getting brunch, nursing their hangovers, walking with their dogs. At the same time, though, I kind of don't want to be included. Maybe that is why I keep myself occupied with work all the time. I know it is.
Found out on Thursday that I did not get the job in Skokie. Stayed positive about it; chin up! Had another interview lined up that evening. I didn't even meet the doctors. An assistant interviewed me, and she totally sucked. Didn't smile, didn't make eye contact, insulted me after I said I had never used the Cerac machine before, spoke in monotone to whole time. What a fucking buzzkill. I set up a working interview for next Thursday, but I'm going to cancel.
I am headed back to STL on Tuesday night and have another interview set up for Wednesday with two more resumes out there that I am hoping to hear from and can also set up something for Wed since I'll be in town. Very much looking forward to hanging with my number one crush, too.
I have not yet quit my job and the dentist office, but I have every intention of putting in my notice tomorrow. Bike trip needs to just happen already!

way too fast
Whirlwind last twenty four hours.
i decided to go see my sister in tampa over 4th of july. i took off a whole week and flew down there with plans on seeing off with their heads on the 3rd at the orpheum. rained the entire time i was there, but i don't mind. actually rested and relaxed and came back refreshed. did have a break in the clouds on saturday and went to the beach for three hours. burnt to a crisp. peeling now.
did eat a lot. i actually need to do a little running b/c i've def been indulging this summer. sis and i went to grass root, trang viet, cuban breeze. owth show was sweet. getting kicked out of the bar promptly at 1010pm was not sweet, but the tacobus was perhaps the best burrito i have ever eaten. and i was practically sober.
while i was in tampa, i received call from a perio office in stl that i had sent my resume to a few weeks back, and i set up a speaking and working interview for the following wednesday. the next day i got a call from another dental office in stl that i sent a resume to, and set up another interview for the following wednesday. then two offices in chicago got back to me, and then another one in stl.
i went to a working interview in skokie on tues. went really well. it was a huge group practice with lots of patients and support team, and the doctor was very kind and caring. if they will accept my school schedule, then i will accept a position there if offered.
took the overnight bus to stl for two interviews yesterday, including one working. the working interview was at a perio office, and all i can say is that i thought it was totally badass! there are eight auxillary and one doctor. and the place was sterile. procedures were messy. love it. the girls were all a little older but everyone seemed genuinely nice. if i'm offered a position, i will probably accept.
then went to another office for a speaking interview. kind of a weird vibe. feel so confidant about the other two, though, that i don't care.
have another one set up for tonight after work at a place in chicago. ten minutes bike ride from my house, so that is awesome. downside is that its work in city limits so i wouldn't get sweet tuition discount at my school.
so i was in stl for about 18 hours. it was HOT AS HELL! i guess i had forgotten about the humidity. heat index was 107. not cool. but i did hang out with my #1 most fav and we went to delmar to get bubble tea. had never had that before. i liked the gummy little tapioca balls. would drink again. would hang out again (hopefully next week).

Mixing Races
A lot has been going on. My number one crush from STL was up here to visit with some friends this weekend. He's just so....cute. Cute. Not hot. Not sexy (but kinda sorta). Perhaps a little bit handsome. He's cute. His smile reaches his eyes and he has dimples. And he's...manly. Broad, strong shoulders and chest. Taller than me. Chest hair. Red tint to his facial hair. Which blows my mind b/c he is Latino. But he looks like a white boy.
He had plans to come up here to visit with some friends from Texas, and it just so happened that this weekend was the annual Puerto Rican pride fest in my 'hood. The streets were flooded with PRs waving flags and cruising around in their cars, honking horns, and showing their cultural pride. He was really excited about it, too, since that is his heritage.
I met up with him at a bar that I had never been to before. It was pretty alright. Total neighborhood hangout, kinda quiet, which was nice. It wasn't too crowded and there wasn't hipsters being hipsters about the place. Cash only. The ATM was not processing my bank card for withdrawal, so I rode my bike to North and Damen to get cash out of the BoA ATM and then rode back to the bar. No big deal. The night was gorgeous. Perfect temps, no wind. We stayed until last call.
The house they were supposed to stay at, which is also near my house, the people who live there were already passed out, so we all came back to my house. Plus, I had barely dented the 30pack of Busch I purchased that afternoon.
I had a terrible headache but stayed up until about 430am socializing in the kitchen. After I retired to my room to pass out, he later knocked on the door and asked if he could sleep in my room with me b/c there was only three couches and four dudes. I said okay. Outside playing it cool, inside dancing. I really thought nothing would become of it, just sleeping next to another warm body would have been fine with me.
Of course, though, neither of us could sleep and after about thirty minutes of talking/laughing next to each other, he pulled my face towards his and kissed me. We started making out and it slowly got heavier and hotter. We ended up banging each other out. Hard. On the bed. On the floor. In all positions. For a solid two hours.
The first time I came, I was on top, and I pulled out and ejaculated onto his torso, and slowly he smiled, eyes closed, "oh yes." He thought that was all porno tricks and not a real thing that he would ever encounter. He was way into it. I ended up coming easily fifteen times, and one time, we were on the floor, I was jacking him off, and he was fingering me, and it started to squirt, and it just kept coming and his hand was making it spray everywhere, and it sounded so choppy/watery. It was pooling onto the hardwood floor. It was pretty bad ass. I have never had it shoot for that long. Easily ten seconds.
After that first long session, we took about thirty minutes to lay around next to each other and lazily drag our fingers over each others back, thighs, stomachs, and then we went at is again for another 40 minutes. I didn't go to sleep until 830am.
When my alarm went off at 10 to get up for work, he wanted to do it again. I kind of did, too, but we didn't b/c I did need to go to work, and I was exhausted.
I understand that this boy is some one who lives in another state. He's also YOUNG. 22. I could tell I was the more experienced one (of course), but he wasn't bad at all. I thoroughly enjoyed our time. I enjoyed him physically, and he was very receptive to feedback from me. slower. faster. gentler. that feels good. i like that.
I know that his mind was blown by the experience. Because he told me. He wants to come back up here to visit. I want him to. I want to do fun things together that we originally wanted to do this weekend but didn't. Go to the beach. Get down on some serious byob latin patios in the 'hood. Laugh together on the porch. Stay up all night enjoying each other. Inside smiling. Outside smiling.

In time everything will turn out right.
Today is Wednesday, but I have thought it was Thursday. Probably b/c i had to go in to work this morning, and Wednesday is supposed to be my day off. I left promptly after the last patient was gone. I don't know why I'm so miffed about working on my day off.
I came home and pedaled to the beach. It was easily mid 80s temps, and there was a lot of people at the beach. I went into the water, too. Up to my knees. Previously, I had only waded in to ankles b/c the water is cold, but today it felt very refreshing.
I did some crosswords and then came back home. I would really like to get tan, but I didn't get too much color today. I guess I am glad that I didn't burn, but I'm still sooo pale.
On Monday, I met up with a boy I had met at a party back in the summer of 2008. He's a total goofball and the conversation was light and easy. We went to 90 Miles and then to the Hancock Building. It was pretty awesome. We got there after dark and all the street lights were on. It was packed, too. I nearly thought it was a Saturday night. The drinks were expensive, so we had one round. It was still a lot of fun. I would definitely go back up there, but only for a special occassion, like my parents visiting for my bday or something.
I felt pretty down last night. I spoke to my mom on the phone, and I told her that I had cut myself. She made me feel lousy about it, when all I wanted was a friend. She sent me and email this morning that made me feel better. My parents want me to come back to StL. I'm still on the fence. I like it up here; I just am frustrated with my job. I'm looking for another. Frantically.
