Second week recap

Bryan and I spoke on the phone for 47 minutes on...Wednesday? Maybe Thursday?

Anyway, we made plans to watch The Animation Show on Friday night after work. I was going to bring over vegan pizza. We had some beers, ate the pizza, watched the show. He liked a lot of the films.

Then we made out until like one in the morning. He takes it nice and slow, and I was way into it.

On Saturday night, we went to see Raygun at Firebird with a bunch of local openers. Place was packed. Everyone there was at least 30 years old. It was awesome. Bands were great, we had beers at the venue, parking lots beers, and played Ms. Pac Man twice.

Then we went to Broadway Oyster Bar for another band that Bryan knew personally. We didn't have to pay cover, so that was nice. The band was totally solid, and there was a lot of people there. I enjoyed people watching...it's just amusing to me to watch bro-dawgs try to pick up chicks.

We left BOB at like two a.m., and I sincerely thought it was going to be pillow talk, baby the second I laid down on the bed. But we stayed up making out until after 3:30. Laid around together again most of the morning. He's very ideal and I really like the initial time when we are still trying to figure each other out. Have not banged out yet, which is fine by me. I have enjoyed the things we have done, and am glad there is still more to look forward to!

On my way out, we walked down to APOP and I bought a birthday gift for Booker, which I will give to him when I'm in CHI later this week.

Hopefully, Bryan and I can hang out again before I leave. If not, we agreed that I will send him one update, halfway through my European Adventure, and try not to rub it in about how awesome of a time I am having! Bryan made a comment to me that he likes German chocolate. Maybe I can bring back a few treat for him!

Saturday night recap

Hold Tight! played here (twice!!) on Saturday! I was sooo amped for this show.

Bryan and I met up at his house and we drove over to No Coast for the first show. It was BYOB and fairly well-attended. I had never been to that place. I really liked it, as a space and also for the bands that played. There was a mini ramp in the back and that is where we stood for the first few bands. We went down to the front/ground floor for Haddonfields and Hold Tight!

I was excited for Hold Tight!, but I didn't purchase the new record prior and therefore didn't know any of the new songs. They did play most songs off the new record, but there were plenty of old jams.

After the show, I purchased the new record and spoke to everyone out on the street for a bit, then Bryan and I went to Firebird for Big Freedia, the queen diva dick eatta!! She is fucking STACKED! It was awesome! There were about 200 white folks booty dancing like their life depended on it. Girls in bras and panties up on the stage getting nasty. I am always curious if they can get down like that when it matters, or if this was just the alcohol. I'm sure its just the latter.

After Big Freedia, we went to Lemmon's for the late show. Missed Better Days, who were the special guest. I like them, but they play all the time, so I'll catch them next time. Then Pedals... played again, then Hold Tight! (different set!! more old songs!) I was up in the front freaking out. So much fun! I kept yelling for Tell Your Crush, but they didn't play it. Before I left, I said thank you to them for coming to play and see them next at Fest. They said you're welcome, thanks for coming out, etc, and sorry we didn't play your request! Hahaha!

Haddonfields closed out the night and Bryan and I got the eff outta there. We headed back to his house and went out onto the roof! There is a little wooden deck and we laid down next to each other looking up at the sky. It was a beautiful night, perfect temps, pleasant company. I actually fell asleep out there for a few minutes!

We came back in the house and it was mouths open until the sun came up. Goodness gracious I could kiss him all night (and I did!). I was still ragging, so nothing beyond petting/kissing. No complaints, though. I still want to be sure I'm not rushing into anything.

We walked to get food this afternoon and then I headed home. I wasn't feeling too well. Midly hungover/dehydrated. Plus, all I ate on Saturday was two Cliff Bars and some tater tots. Gross. The breakfast burrito was delicious, a little spicy. My lips were on fire.

Super excited about how much fun the shows were and how much fun I had with my new friend. I hope we can keep this ball rolling.

an adventure in online dating

So a few months ago, Carl convinced me to give online dating a go. I created a profile, and it was pretty much a bust. Not unlike real life, I guess. Lots of bro-dawgs and frat rat types, or old dudes. I am just not into that. I've said it before and I will type it here again, but the only way I'm getting it on with a 55 year old man is when I'm a 55 year old woman!

I had kinda given up on it, even though I did find my patient on whom I have a crush. He was the fourth result from the top of the first page of my search result. At first I didn't want to even view his profile because it felt...invasive and inappropriate. Also, if I viewed it, he would get an alert that I viewed him, and I didn't want him to know. After a few days, the site wouldn't let me get to my homepage until I rated five different guys as yes, no, or maybe. AND MY PATIENT WAS ONE OF THE ONES I HAD TO RATE!!! And I clicked "yes". And that is something that can't be unclicked. So he got an alert that I had checked "yes." And then I got an alert that he had viewed my profile, so I viewed his finally. And he is suuuuper into being Catholic and def wants to have kids. So I guess that is that. I did think about contacting him anyway and just asking him to humor me for one date. I'm sure we would have a great time. I've already talked to him loads of time at work.

So after several weeks of inactivity, I had a message from a guy who is just a year older than me. And the first two sentences in his message are, "I'm intrigued...no 'I'm a laid back girl who likes going to Cards games.' I love your new summer haircut."

He was pretty good looking in the photos, a little dude (I love the little dudes!), seemed legit in his profile and just in general some one with whom I would get along well...interests in art/music. I did a little background check and it turns out we have a mutual acquaintance in Booker. I also showed the women at work the pics, profile, and they approved as well. Not that I would care if they didn't, but I was feeling really good and just wanted to share with them.

So Bryan and I traded emails for a week or so, then I invited him to meet me at Gokul for Monday night all-you-can eat veg buffet. I had to work until 6pm and after cleaning up and showering and driving to Delmar, we had dinner. He was shorter/skinnier than he came across in his profile (seriously not a problem here. I love the little dudes), but also a lot cuter. His mouth is very pleasant and he smiles big and it reaches his eyes. I'm going to use the word....adorable (in ref to his big smile reaching his eyes).

We really hit it off. The food was delicious, and after we were done, we hung out talking until closing time...we had been there for nearly two hours! It was a really nice night, and I suggested that we walk down to VV. So we did and talked the whole way there. I bought the new TBR 12". I'm kind pissed about the record they put out before this one, but I'll give them another chance. I have not heard any of the new tracks, but the artwork is hot pink field with white graphics. It looks poppy as fuck. I'm sure it sounds poppy as fuck, too.

After VV, we decided to pop into Pin-Up for A round. Roy was bartending; I had not seen that dude in like....eight years! I told Karen he was working there, and she wants to go up and get a drink sometime when he's working. Anyway, Bryan and I sat at the bar, and Roy came over to take our order. I was asked if I was a beer snob and I said, "yes! I'm a total snob about beer. I don't like the fancy ones. Just cheap and simple." So Roy poured a PBR into a frosted Martini glass! It was delicious and my hand just felt so right wrapped around that stem!! HAHA! This is exceptionally funny to me because when Roy worked at BH, one night Karen and I went to see him down in the Elvis room, and he gave me a champagne flute for my High Life!

So we had great conversation at Pin-Up, ended up having two rounds. Bryan has to work earlier than me, and we didn't leave until maybe midnight. He walked me to my car and we parted ways. He texted me about twenty minutes later that he had a great time and thank you for a wonderful evening! I had a wonderful time, too, and was really excited that he was interested.

We spoke on the phone on...maybe Tuesday or Wednesday night. He invited me to an art opening at a gallery on Washington on Thursday (he's also off on Fridays. Awesome!) So after work on Thursday, I drove home, cleaned up, stashed the bike in the back of the car, and drove back into the city. Neither of us had eaten, and we decided on El Bronco for veg tortas (for me) and shrimp tostados (for him). We had great conversation again then drove to the opening. It wasn't super crowded, the show was 'aight. Nothing mind-blowing. But the space also had a lot of weird books. They even had two about the Mutter Museum. Which was interesting in that just earlier at dinner I mentioned this museum and how I thought it was fascinating to me because I'm interested in weird genetic abnormalities and conjoined twins and dwarfism, etc.

Bryan knew several people at the art opening, and when it was over we headed to an underground bar. It was literally a door in an alley, that we rang a bell and several minutes later a door man with a crazy white beard and handlebar mustache came up and let us it. We descended two or three stories underground. It was a cool place. Not a lot of people (no problem) and the DJ was playing some totally chill jams and the volume was at a very comfortable background-noise level.

We stayed at this bar until about midnight then went back towards Bryan's house. We stopped at a park where he plays ice hockey in the winter. There were two ponds and we walked around and then sat near one. It was a gorgeous night! Stars in the sky, perfect temp, pleasant company. We sat by the water talking some more. He put his hand on my back, and I jumped because right at that moment I was thinking about bugs that were probably in the grass!!

Then I felt something bite my ass. And it started to hurt! A lot. Deep on the right near where my butt cheek and thigh meet. We looked at it, but couldn't see anything. It continued to hurt more and more. We left the park and drove home.

I went in his new apartment. I had been there earlier, before we left for Bronco and he showed me around. It's really nice. He has a lot of space and everything looks new and updated. And there is a washer/dryer. He also has roof access!!! Although its only two stories up. Regardless, rooftops rule! Back at the house, he said he could take a look at that bug bite on my ass. I said, "I bet you could!" We put on some music and joked around and talked some more. Then we laid down on his bed. I was ragging pretty hard, and I was still hesitant about getting involved with some one new so soon. I don't want to risk getting too close too soon or getting hurt. But I didn't say this. After a bit, we started just gently touching each other's arms and legs and stomaches, collar bones and backs. It felt really good. He is super skinny. Easily the slightest build I have ever encountered. But I enjoyed him physically. We continued doing this for A LONG time. Then we started kissing. His mouth is also very pleasant when he kisses. We made out for hours. Just kissing and touching. He really took it slow and spent a lot of time enjoying my legs, arms, breasts, neck. I would let him, too, all night. I was ragging and didn't take off my underwear. Once his hand passed over the outside of them near my pussy, and I gently pulled his hand back upward towards my torso. He got the hint and stayed away from there. We passed out as the sun was coming up, and I only slept for like...two hours.

He had an interview that afternoon and had to get some materials ready for that and take care of some other errands. I had to find a pharmacy.

I had a great time, and we have plans to hang out again on Saturday! I was thinking about kissing him the whole drive home.

Dirty Jokes v7.12

Dr S has been laughing for two weeks about this. When he laughs, it makes me laugh, too. And then he laughs more.

A little bit of back story: At work, we know with which patients we can joke around and which ones we can't. Sometimes when we are done with placing an implant on a man, Dr S will tell the patient, "The ladies all get t-shirts that say, 'I got screwed by Dr S and I have the smile to prove it.'" There are two other variations of: I got screwed by Dr S and it was over before I knew it" or "...I didn't feel a thing." The men think this is hilarious. Sometimes Dr S will tell the ladies that they will get a t-shirt. Again, we know who can take jokes and who can't. The office manager even had about ten shirts screened with this text on it!! The few people who have them seriously think its, like, the funniest thing ever. And I admit, I think it is kinda funny, too.

So, last week we placed an implant on this lady and Dr S tells her the joke when we're done. I took her up to the front and also asked the next patient to come on back. The second patient, SG, was super nervous and had eaten 15mg of Diazepam and was suuuuuuper sedated. So I get her standing and she takes my arm for support. The first patient, JH, turns and asks, "Oh! Are you having an implant, too? You'll be fine! Just make sure that doctor wears a condom!"

I was absolutely horrified (even though it was hilarious! My eyes got big and I started laughing nervously! The two ladies working at the front desk were also laughing nervously. My patient just stood there, unamused, mouth agape, drooling she was so heavily sedated. She was def one of the ones we know we can't joke with! And here she is, practically incapacitated with benzos, and this lady is pretty much ttelling her that Dr S is going to...screw her.

So at the end of the day, I was up at the desk with Dr S and our office manager and I told them the story about what JH said to SG earlier that morning. Then the office manager said totally deadpan, "Don't worry. There's never been any disease transmission with this bone."

And we have all been laughing about this for two weeks plus. I'm laughing about it right now as I'm typing. I'm sure its funnier to me than it is to you, reader.

Pedal Report: Bambi Prix

Went out to the levee on Ex-Girlfriend super early before the temps got too hot. The usual loop, or i guess now awkward in/out because of shitty dog owners. On my way back in, I crested the levee and I saw a fawn sitting in the grass near a corn field. As I approached, I could see him tracking me. Then I saw a second fawn step out of the corn field, and they both started running toward me!

At first I was taken aback and nervous. I have heard stories of stags taking out bikers during certain times of the years, but these two little guys still had their white spring spots. So I made some noise and yelled a little bit to try to scare them away. But they just kept running.

I slowed down to admire. They paced alongside me, about ten yards away. They took two regular running steps then one giant leap. Two regular running steps then one giant leap. Two regular running steps then one giant leap. They got such air time with the leaps and were so smooth with their movements that it seemed like it was happening in slo-mo. Majestic!

They just wanted to play! They ran alongside me for about 200 yards until we got to the end of the levee.

Womb-mates

I had another nightmare on Friday night. In the dream, my brother died of a heroin overdose. The police officer told us he was found under the Kingshighway overpass, and he was all alone and had been there for a while. I started screaming!!!!! And I thought, I just drove over that bridge earlier that day and he was down there the whole time! We all knew this was going to happen, and I was surprised that I was so upset about it.

When I woke up, I (obviously) remembered the dream and was really upset for the rest of the day about it. Even the feelings I remember in the dream...the surprise at being upset about it even though we all knew it was an inevitable. The strange feeling when I thought, "wow, I just drove over that bridge!" And the extreme sadness and utter heartbreak of losing my brother. I love him so much, and I don't want him to leave like this!

I went out on Ex-Girlfriend for a few hours this morning and then just hung around the house in the afternoon. Dad phoned me and said that I needed to take him to Valley Park. The VPPD called and Scott had overdosed. He was alive, but in police custody, and we needed to go get his car.

I dreamed about him overdosing when he was overdosing. Womb-mate, I don't want it to end like this. I love you so much even though you think that I don't.

I dream of pizza

I had a "nightmare" on Thursday night.

In the dream, I ate Pizza Hut pizza. And when I say I ate it, I mean I shoved an entire piece in my mouth and tried to choke it down in one bite, much like how wiener dog eats a piece of dropped chicken or some such food he's not supposed to have.

I woke up and I felt sick, like I was going to puke. I am curious if my guts were all a-bubble first and that is why I dreamt that, or if I was sick because I dreamt that.

main-lining self-esteem

Was minding my own business and came across this via a friend of a friend on faceballs.

I present to you, the girl who must have the best personality in the world, my ex's gf after me. goodness gracious!

Fuuuuuck!!!! I might just have to delete this post if I have to look at it every time I log on here. Talk about a self-esteem booster. I'm sure she has a lot of redeeming personality qualities. Probably is not a petty little adolescent retard in disguise (like me?). I'm being really mean right now; she has nothing to do with the dissolving of the (first (oh, that's why)) most important relationship of my adult life. There has got to be some kind of abnormal genetic condition going on. I'll be going through my textbooks and post if I find anything.

July 4th Recap

On Tuesday after work, Matt and I rode our bikes to Lemmon's for a late show. He had been at the cove all afternoon and was about ten beers deep before we even got to the bar. Bands were alright. I was mostly excited to get out of the house and socialize. A lot of people were out since everyone was off on Wednesday for the holiday.

Before we left, Matt insisted that we do a shot of Fireball. If the act of ordering Fireball isn't evidence enough that he was BOMBED!, on the way home, he wrecked his bike three times!! The first time was actually really funny to watch. We came to a T-intersection, and he crashed into a parked car and flipped onto the hood! We did not leave a note. There was a dent in the side panel. His saddle post was fucked, as were the rear brakes. He was fiddling with the brakes for several minutes before I just opened them up so he could pedal. I was concerned, though, that with only front brakes, he might end up going over the handlebars again. He fell off again into the street as soon as he tried to get back on.

He wrecked for a third time coming of the path and onto Loughborough! Landed onto the grass.

We made it back to house sans brain damage and passed the EFF OUT!

On Wednesday, the residents of the Minnesota House were hosting a party/show. There was good crowd. Dudes everywhere. I'm a fan. Lots of sweet patriotic shirts...all sans sleeves, of course. My favorite probably Curt's, which was a bald eagle with a motorcycle helmet and goggles, leather jacket, and riding a moto. AMAZING!! It was still really hot out when I arrived around 530, and I got into the pool. I brought my suit, but I ended up just wading around up to my knees and sitting on the ledge.

There were numerous bands on the bill, first up was Bass-Amp and Dano. I was excited they were play first since they are so pro-'Merica!!

Then everyone's favorite evening bird came out to sing a song:

Up next was The Winchester. I also have video of their set, but haven't uploaded it yet.

Third was Cool Mutants from Evansville, IN. I had never seen them before, but I have met a few of them at previous shows for other bands in which they play. I really liked their sound. And they were wearing sweet vests! Thank you for coming to party with us!

I was outside shooting off fireworks with Angelo, Lew, J-Man and some others for the next two acts.

Then Dude Jams showed up and it was sweet! I was so excited they played here. I had not seen them play since Fest....maybe three years ago? They had driven straight to the party, loaded their gear, played, then seemed to disappear. I saw their drummer and spoke briefly with him before I rolled out. I wish more people had been into them.

Chill Dawgs were last, and it was a complete abortion. Biff was so bombed that he didn't play his guitar, sang half the songs, and actually passed out on the couch before their set was complete!

One of my favorite things about Chill Dawgs shows is that Nighthawk's parents show up, and his dad is especially into it.

I felt like shit all day; glad I was able to use a vacation day. I woke up on the couch at home next to wienus dog and I had a puke bucket next to me on the floor.

Overheard at the bar

Last night I went to Manga for several bands. It was some one's birthday, and a lot of people were there. I parked it at the bar and was hit on by three dudes during the course of the evening.

One was named Tyson. He was cute, but not my type. It was kinda crowded at the bar, and he was standing behind where I was sitting and ordered two beers. He took one, passed the second to me, and then turned around a disappeared for several hours. He came back in later and sat by me, introduced himself, and the conversation didn't go much farther than that.

The second dude who hit on me I don't know what his name was. He was ginger, a vet(eran), and asked me if I in undergrad at SLU (I know I look young, but damn!) We had nice conversation, but I wasn't interested in him. He was really laying it on thick and I knew he wanted my number, but never asked and that was fine.

The third dude who hit on me, I was not interested in, either. He asked me for my number, and I told him that I wouldn't call him back. I ended up giving him my number and I made good on my promise to not call him back when texted me this afternoon.

Okay, so the reason I came here to type this post was because in my conversation with second dude, he observed, "Wow. There are a lot of really good looking women here tonight."

I replied, "Yeah! The Chill Dawgs are playing later! And when they do, all those really good looking women are going to be down in the front dancing!"

And when the Chill Dawgs played, all those really good looking women (myself included!) were down in the front dancing! I spoke to Biff about this later and he laughed, low-fived me, and said that he was admiring the view from center stage!

Their set was def tight and the best I've seen them perform. No one was too shithammered. I like watching Matt play his bass. I texted him before I went to sleep, "good show good show! I like watching you play your bass. Have a good night!"

His reply? "Aw shucks, thanks. Sleep Tight."
