Hostage wiener!

I bought a wood carving from Brett, and he brought it to STL last weekend when he was here with his bands.  I forgot about it after the show because I was pumped/focused on eating PIZZZZA!

Brett left this voicemail for me at 1:40am:

Jason and I met him at the casino parking lot the following morning to get the carving.  IT'S SO AWESOME I LOVE IT!!

Stay Retardered weekend recap

Stay Retarderer.  I wasn't super pumped about it being a FUBAR, but at least I got a parking spot close to the door.  Polar vortex was still in full effect and STL was experiencing frigid temps....ZERO!!  Also, single stall bathrooms in a venue that size is bogus!  I stayed sober for want of not having to pee there later.

I went on Thursday because Jason's band* was the opener.  They were great.  Some one, please, give Ron a mic all the time!  Between-song banter was hilarious.  *(They have since been picked up on three more local shows!)

I brought a money melon for John and Josh.  Left it at their merch table.

My Two Waynes were the surprise of the weekend for me.  Chicago-style punk....fast!  Plus, Ronnie was on the drums, and that dude can fucking play.  I love watching him perform.

Friday, I was exhausted.  Luckily, it was already a scheduled day off work.  I slept way to late and got nothing accomplished.  Jason came over after work.  We didn't go see the bands, just passed out by ten p.m., which we were both pumped on.

Saturday was an afternoon showcase and BBQ at the Ballroom.  Place was packed.  Veggie burgers were sold out, but I did put in a few quality sessions with the South Park machine.  Mostly talked with Jonny and Davey.  I knew Tiltwheel's co-headlining spot was going to be rough when Davey was housed by 2pm.

I had to visit my brother at the jail because he requested that I come visit and set up a time.  If I didn't go, no one else could have gone and he would have lost that visit time.  It was actually nice to see him.  There was a glass divider, and we had to talk to each other through a phone.  I was there for like 45 minutes, and we were joking and laughing a lot.

I picked up a vegan pizza on the way to the venue.  Jason and I went to the show on Saturday night.  We arrived for the final few songs of The Heat Tape.  Jackson was selling merch for The Transgressions.  Nato Coles & TBDB performed, and their set was phenomenal, as expected.  Nato is a showman, and those songs are so much better performed live.  Copyrights were a headliner, I was down near the front losing my mind.  Excellent set.  Outstanding.  Dopamines didn't show up, and I don't even give a fuck.  I'm waaaaay over that band.  My prediction about a Tiltwheel abortion were correct.  I didn't even stay to watch the whole set.  Jonny hitched a ride to Lemmon's with Jason and I after the show.  I ate four pieces of the vegan pizza on the ride there.

Lemmon's was an abortion, too.  Haddonfields played a "drunk proof" cover set.  I don't know what time we left, but I ate two more pieces of pizza on the way home.

results

According to my women's health doc, my pussy is immaculate!!

At my yearly exam last week, I was asked if I wanted a call or 'no news is good news'.

I chose call.  So they called me Tuesday while I was at work and left a voicemail to call back for my results.  Which freaked me out!  I tried calling on my lunch break, but their office was on lunch break, too!  Wednesday was crazy at work and I did not have a chance to call.  So I finally called today, and left a message.  Nurse didn't call me back until nearly 4:30pm.  I was panicking inside the whole time.

Mainly because I like Jason so much, and he told me that he is so happy with the way everything is going for him, it almost seems too good to be true.  I had it in the back of my mind that maybe my cervical cancer was going to resurface, or maybe I was going to test positive for the HIfiVe for something.  This is completely irrational thought.  But it was in the back of my mind.

So, I got the call...normal smear and blood panel negative!  BOO-YAH!!  Now, the beginning of a crazy four-day bender with CHI, MPLS, SoCal pals who are in town.

Snow Ball 2014

I worked the photobooth again, last minute with Ann last night. We were at the Moonrise Hotel for the Snow Ball, which is a kick-off to the ice sculpture event on Delmar.  She had built a custom moon background for them another event, and we were using it again for this event.  It was a pleasant evening, and everyone dressed up in white/winter theme.  There was also a man on stilts.  His costume was pretty awesome.  There was a full bar, food buffet, some ballerinas, and a band.  I have to laugh:  for one song, the singer kept repeating, "We're snowballin'!"

At the end of the night, Ann and I took a few photos of ourselves:

call back

I had contacted Ann a few weeks back about keeping me in mind if she ever needed help running the photobooth.  She called me about an event, which occurred at the Sheldon on Saturday.  It wasa TEDx event.  I had seen a few videos floating around, but I didn't realize it was a organization.

The Sheldon was a pretty sweet place.  I had never been there.  The speakers were in the auditorium, and our photobooth was in a separate reception area where there was food, drinks, and other vendors set-up.  In this reception area, the organizers were streaming a live feed of the speakers in the auditorium.  It was a really positive day, and the speakers had a lot of interesting topics about which to talk.

For this event, the background was The Arch, and the props were red letters, TEDx.  Becca and I were running the booth because Ann was out of town.  I think we did a great job!  The photos we took came out great.  I pretty much ran the camera and Becca helped everyone with prints.

All of them can be found on the Photomaton site:

Oh, yeah, some old due who was working valet complimented me on my mod style.  HA!

snow day

Here's a time line for what I experienced with the most recent polar vortex:

Woke up at about 5:30am on Sunday because that is my schedule.  I peeked outside, saw a light dusting, and even a rabbit in the back yard!  Slightly frustrating, because everyone had been scared to go out because of the overnight forecast, and actual conditions turned out to be pretty manageable.

I went back to sleep and when I woke up several hours later, it was a true blizzard out there!  Snow blowing everywhere and accumulating.  Lots of snow drifts.

This was the scene this morning.  I canceled by doctor appointment and rescheduled for another day.  I don't even have a shovel.  I forgot it in my folks' garage when I moved.  My dad is coming over later to bring it to me and help me dig out.  I have no intention of going anywhere until work tomorrow, though.  The air temps and wind chill is too frigid.  I'm not going to risk it.  Plus, I'm already cold in the house.  I don't need to go outside.  At least the sun is shining, though.  Still have not seen any snow plows on my street.

I'm also curious as to where the rabbit is and if he/she is okay.  I almost want to put some vegetables out on the back patio.  I will keep an eye out for tracks in the snow the next few days.

My dad said that wiener dog has been having a hard time.  First, the snow is deeper than he is tall.  Second, it's SO COLD!  My dad cleared an area for the dog to go out into the yard, but he said that the dog pretty much peed on the front porch and ran right back into the house.

Saturday night snow-bust

There was a wrestling event on Saturday night, and it wasn't very well attended due to the snow forecast.  It was predicted to start snowing around 7pm and continue until 5pm the next day.  Shame because the matches were excellent, and also because the forecasters were wrong!  When I left at 11:30, there was zero precipitation.  Still no activity when I went to sleep just after 2am.

But, I did get to tape from a lift, about ten feet in the air.  It was very sturdy yet very cramped.  I had no wiggle room whatsoever.  However, this particular venue is booked for future events, and the angle was great, so I will get to use the lift next time, too.

Here's a still of me on the lift:

Foto-Bomber

Well....I was really hoping to never see this photo, but it was posted online today and is going to be the cover photo for the music section of my city's entertainment newsweekly.  Can't really tell it's me photo bombing Rob and JohnnyB,  but I'm still embarrassed by it.  This was during a particularly epic bender a few months ago.  The initial shame of that weekend has passed, and I actually find the photo quite funny.

First post

First post of the 2014.  On the31st, Jason and four friends came up here to go ice skating at Steinberg Rink, and I was invited to meet up.  I have my own skates and was excited to meet up and enjoy some sun.  Air temps were medium...about 44F.  The wind was frigid when it was blowing, though.

Jason has skated once.  He was a good sport about it and did attempt to go out on the ice.  He held onto the rail and made it 3/4 around the rink before we had to clear the ice for the zamboni, at which time he just hopped the railing!  Luckily, the concession stand had opened and beer was being served, so he just parked it on a bench for the remainder of the outing. HA!

Here is a photo:

After ice skating, everyone drove back home, but Jason stayed up here.  We went to my house to hang out for a bit.  We got some lunch and watched a bunch of stand-up on youtube.  Then we made out on the couch for like 45 minutes and I blew him.  His orgasm was massive, and he thought his heart was going to explode.  Outstanding!

Then we drove to a house party in Jason's town.  It was a nice time.  Everyone was nice and welcoming.  Candice talked to me for a while, and she said that she liked me and thought that I was very friendly.  I said thank you! And that I had been sincerely making an effort to meet people/be social, because Jason is important to me.  And it has been working. :)

After the party, I drove us back to Jason's house, and we stayed up for an additional two hours, making out, banging out, and talking.  Jason said that he is excited for 2014.  Although his job is in flux, he is in a position to start his own business, something he has wanted for a long time.  He has a good thing going with his current band and is excited about the new drummer.  And he likes me, and is excited that 2013 ended on such a high note and 2014 looks to be promising!  I told him what I have already typed here.  That I am excited, too, but also that I am not scared.  Not scared of how intensely I feel or how comfortable we are around each other.
